Filtering and sorting lists
How to filter and sort the invoices, accounts and contacts lists, how filters combine, how to share a filtered view, and which filters each list offers.
The invoices, accounts and contacts lists share the same controls: tabs, a Filter button and sortable column headers. The leads page has its own tabs and views, described in Tracking leads in your pipeline.
Filter a list
Open the list and choose a tab.
Click Filter next to the tabs.
Point to a field, such as Account or Amount.
Pick the values you want.
The list updates straight away, and the filter appears as a chip above the list.
How you pick values depends on the field:
Field type | How you set it |
|---|---|
Checkbox list | Tick any number of options. |
Searchable list | Type to search, then tick any number of options. Account, Project and Contact use this type. |
Date | Pick This month, Last month, This quarter, This year or Last year. Or pick Custom range and choose the first and last day in the calendar. |
Amount | Enter a Min, a Max or both, then click Apply. |
Date presets follow your workspace’s timezone. This month starts on the first of the month in that timezone.
How filters combine
A row has to match every active field.
Within one field, a row has to match at least one of the ticked options.
Some fields have an extra option at the end of the list for rows with no value. On invoices, Project and Contact offer None. On accounts, Industry offers Unknown. On contacts, Role offers Unknown.
Change or remove a filter
Each active filter shows as a chip above the list, with the values it holds.
To change a filter, click its chip and adjust the values.
To add another filter, click the + button after the chips.
To remove one filter, click the × on its chip.
To remove all filters, click Clear.
The counts on the tabs follow the active filters. If nothing matches, the list shows a message such as “No invoices match these filters.” with a Clear filters link.
Sort a list
Click a column header to sort by that column in ascending order.
Click it again to sort in descending order.
Click it a third time to return to the default order.
An arrow next to the header shows the direction. You can sort by one column at a time.
List | Default order |
|---|---|
Invoices, Unpaid and Refunded tabs | Newest first |
Invoices, Paid tab | Most recently paid first |
Accounts | Healthy and Risky first, then Inactive. Within each group, accounts with overdue invoices come first. |
Contacts | By name |
Share a filtered view
The tab, the filters and the sort are part of the page address. Reloading the page keeps them, and you can bookmark the address or send it to a team member.
Every change to the tab, a filter or the sort takes the list back to its first page.
If you switch tabs, Billow drops any filter or sort the new tab doesn’t offer.
Invoice filters

|---|---|---|

Overdue means the due date has passed. Awaiting payment means it hasn’t.
The Drafts section below the Unpaid list follows the same filters and sort. If you set a Stage filter, the Drafts section is hidden, since a draft has nothing due yet.
