Turning a lead into a project
Qualifying and converting are two separate steps. What happens when you convert, and what can block it.
When a lead turns into real work, you convert it into a project.
Qualifying doesn’t convert
Moving a lead to Qualified marks it as a good fit. That’s all it does.
Converting is a separate click: Start Project on the lead’s card or in its row menu. Only Qualified leads show that button.
Pick the kind of project
Start Project asks what you’re building.
Project with offer lands in Draft with an empty offer attached, ready for you to fill in. Your workspace’s default deposit percentage and tax settings come with it. Next stop is Building and sending an offer.
Simple project skips the offer and lands Active straight away, ready to invoice. Use it when the work is already agreed and there’s no proposal to send. See Simple projects.
Either way the account, the contact and your notes carry over, and the lead leaves the pipeline board.
If Start Project doesn’t work
Two things can stop it.
The lead isn’t Qualified. Move it to Qualified first.
You’re at your plan’s active project limit.
Mark a finished project as completed, or move up a plan. See Plans and limits. Both kinds of project take a slot, so picking Simple project doesn’t get you around the limit.
