Setting up your workspace
The three signup steps, the one setup requirement, and the onboarding checklist.
Signing up takes an email and a password, or your Google account. Three short steps follow before you’re in.
1. Verify your email
If the mail didn’t arrive, hit Resend email and check your spam folder.
2. Tell Billow about your company
A short form: your name, your country, and your company name. Your role, team size, and how many clients you work with a year are optional.
Your country also picks a starting default currency, which you can change under Settings → Accounting.
Your company name becomes two things:
Your legal name, which is what clients see on offers, invoices, and contracts. Client emails go out under it too
Your workspace name, which is the internal label in your sidebar. Billow adds “Workspace” to the end unless your company name already ends with it
Both are editable later under Settings → General, alongside your tax registration number and address.
3. Pick a plan
Every workspace needs an active plan or trial. You’ll land on plan selection, where a 14-day trial starts once you check out. See Plans and limits.
Setting up your accounting
You arrive at your Cockpit with a checklist in the bottom-right corner.
Set up your finances is the checklist’s one real requirement. It’s complete once you’ve added a bank account or connected Stripe, which is how an invoice collects money.
The same page holds your workspace currency, default VAT rate, and default deposit percentage. Setting up your accounting defaults walks through it.
The rest of the checklist
Optional, in whatever order suits you:
Import your existing invoices
Invite your team
Add your first account
Create your first project
Create your first invoice
Add your first lead
The card disappears on its own once everything’s done. Once your finances are set up you can also dismiss it early with Skip Onboarding.
The checklist only appears for the workspace owner. Invited teammates never see it.
